Cloud water path, precipitation amount, and precipitation efficiency derived from multiple datasets on the Qilian Mountains, Northeastern Tibetan Plateau

چکیده
Orographic clouds and precipitation are critical to the water cycle ecology of arid semiarid mountainous regions. This study intended investigate spatial seasonal distribution cloud path (CWP), amount, efficiency (PE) on Qilian Mountains (QM) northeastern Tibetan Plateau, as well related mechanisms linked with topographic vapor transport. To solve limitations rain gauges radar observations at high elevations QM, we used latest multiple datasets, including Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM), Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer, ECMWF Reanalysis v5 data from 2016 2019. The amount retrieved two GPM products was evaluated using gauge data. results show that generally overestimate QM have a correlation in warm seasons low winter seasons, primarily due significant influences snow ice coverage. terrain height supply below 600 hPa factors determine distributions QM. increased an increase elevation 3000 m decreased above CWP, PE areas much higher than those surroundings decrease southeast northwest because low-level supply. were highest summer strong moisture transport lowest weakest Water fluxes eastern, southern, northern boundaries contributed wetness eastern slopes lack westerly winds main reason for drought western

متن کاملPrecipitation impacts on vegetation spring phenology on the Tibetan Plateau.
The ongoing changes in vegetation spring phenology in temperate/cold regions are widely attributed to temperature. However, in arid/semiarid ecosystems, the correlation between spring temperature and phenology is much less clear. We test the hypothesis that precipitation plays an important role in the temperature dependency of phenology in arid/semiarid regions. We therefore investigated the in...
متن کاملA 3,500-year tree-ring record of annual precipitation on the northeastern Tibetan Plateau.
An annually resolved and absolutely dated ring-width chronology spanning 4,500 y has been constructed using subfossil, archaeological, and living-tree juniper samples from the northeastern Tibetan Plateau. The chronology represents changing mean annual precipitation and is most reliable after 1500 B.C. Reconstructed precipitation for this period displays a trend toward more moist conditions: th...
متن کاملRapid changes of precipitation pH in Qinghai Province, the northeastern Tibetan Plateau.
Rainfall monitoring programs were conducted in two industrial cities of China's Qinghai Province, Xining and Germu, in some periods of the 1980s and 1990s. The results show that the natural precipitation in this area is originally alkaline. Compared with the late 1980s records, pH values declined significantly from approximately 8 in the 1980s to below 7 in mid-1990s. Such rapid and drastic cha...
متن کاملClimate Control on Tree Growth at the Upper and Lower Treelines: A Case Study in the Qilian Mountains, Tibetan Plateau
It is generally hypothesized that tree growth at the upper treeline is normally controlled by temperature while that at the lower treeline is precipitation limited. However, uniform patterns of inter-annual ring-width variations along altitudinal gradients are also observed in some situations. How changing elevation influences tree growth in the cold and arid Qilian Mountains, on the northeaste...
